Kennedy Events: How did you get started in the events industry?

Chida: Theater was my gateway into production, bringing audiences together, and collaborating with teams of creatives and experts. The experiences I had working in all aspects of theater led me to non-profit events and fundraising and then to large-scale events for corporate and tech companies. The skills I honed in theater apply across all industries.

What’s your favorite aspect of the event planning process?

Complex collaboration with other people is my favorite aspect. I learn so much from other people and the ability of a group of people to solve problems together is the secret sauce of any event process.

What is your favorite event moment?

When you have planned out everything you can, have entrusted and empowered everyone with the information they need to make an event hum, and then watch that event take on its own life and momentum.

What’s one of your favorite events?

The Goldman Prize; always has inspiring presentations and videos!

What’s your favorite part of your job?

My favorite part of being an event producer is bringing ideas to life. It’s incredibly rewarding to see a concept, initially just a spark of imagination, transform into a tangible, immersive experience that captivates attendees. This journey from the drawing board to the final execution involves creativity, detailed planning, and collaboration with a team of talented individuals, each bringing their unique skills to the table. Witnessing the joy and awe on the faces of guests as they engage with the event, knowing that it all began with an idea, is profoundly satisfying. It’s this creative fulfillment and the ability to craft memorable moments that truly energize me in my role.

What are the five tools you can’t live without?

  1. Clipboard

  2. Calculator

  3. Blue Tape

  4. Google Drive

  5. iPhone

Where do you find inspiration?

I draw inspiration from the dynamic realms of theater and music, where stories and emotions come alive in profound and evocative ways. Theater, with its direct actor-audience connection, immerses me in diverse narratives, offering fresh perspectives and emotional depth. Music, transcending language, resonates with the soul, its melodies and rhythms invoking a spectrum of feelings and ideas. Together, they represent a symphony of creativity, each performance and piece a source of innovation and connection. This fusion of dramatic expression and musical journey fuels my imagination, urging me to explore and express my own creative visions.

What’s the top destination on your must-visit list?

My top destination isn't pinned on a map; it’s the joy of exploring wherever I am. This approach to travel and discovery means every location, no matter how grand or humble, holds the potential for adventure and new experiences. Instead of chasing famous landmarks or bucket-list destinations, I find beauty in the unexpected—the local markets bustling with life, the quiet parks where everyday moments unfold, the hidden alleys that tell a story of their own.

If you could choose a superpower what would it be?

If I could choose a superpower, it would undoubtedly be clairvoyance—the ability to see beyond the immediate, to understand the past, present, and potential futures with clear insight. This power fascinates me because it offers a unique blend of wisdom, guidance, and understanding that goes far beyond the physical realm.

What’s your typical weekend activity?

Catching up with friends is my typical weekend activity, and it's something I truly cherish. Weekends are the perfect time to pause from the hectic pace of the workweek and invest in those meaningful connections that make life richer.

What’s your comfort food?

Pozole is my go-to comfort food! This traditional Mexican stew is not only hearty and flavorful but also deeply comforting with its rich history and cultural significance. Made with hominy, meat (commonly pork, chicken, or even vegetarian versions), and a blend of spices and herbs, pozole is a dish that warms you from the inside out. It's typically garnished with fresh ingredients like shredded cabbage, radish slices, avocado, lime, and chopped cilantro, allowing you to customize each spoonful to your liking.

What’s your favorite after-hours activity?

Karaoke is my favorite after-hours activity! It’s a fantastic way to unwind, have fun, and bond with friends or even make new ones. Whether you’re belting out classic hits, current chart-toppers, or timeless ballads, karaoke offers something for everyone.

The world beckons, but nothing beats coming home to the Bay Area, and her two kids, fiance, and spunky cat.
